Don Boudreaux

What you'll get in return for paying $44 for my book Globalization looks better and better (at least according to this short review)!

That's it. I read Caplan's book, two of Roberts', but, to be honest, your book title never really gripped me. I'll give it a go nonetheless -- at least if enough of us do it you might spare us the Kazoo playing and get back to productivity-destroying commentary.

Professor Boudreaux,

The British spelling of “Globalization” is “Globalisation.”

Didn’t they make you switch that, like right-hand drive, the metric system, and bad teeth?

Be glad you can buy it at US Amazon. It is 31 pounds in the UK. An even better deal now.

I'll make a market at 5 quid and 20.

(buying book now....)

I just spent 51 USD to buy this book on Amazon US and have it shipped to London. Amazon UK would have charged the equivalent of 64 USD. If I do this in bulk, will I bring these two prices closer together? And if I do that, am I, like, feeding the poor?

You may not be feeding the poor, but, in a small way, you are helping make global markets more efficient. Poetic, concerning the subject of the book.

By the way, I too engage in this beneficial self-interest. As long as I'm willing to endure longer shipping times, buying books from America is usually quite cheaper than buying them from the German Amazon. If I had any entrepreneurial sense at all, I'd start a small book-selling business on the side.

In France, Amazon was recently successfully sued for undercharging for books, even though they charge nearly list price in France as required by law, because they offer free shipping.

dick King,

Well France is probably the most anti-market European nation, so who cares? Plus it has been twenty years; they're due for another revolution soon, anyway.
